Alpha Female: The Bitch

If you never get lost in traffic or look good in a miniskirt – or both – chances are you may be called an alpha female. This one is as strong and faithful to the attributes of gender as an alpha male is. Sexuality is the overriding principle and factor for success with both the alpha female and the alpha male.

Think Margaret Thatcher – durable, resilient, iron-clad, iron-willed, and vain with appearance. Hers was also the only cabinet with no other woman in it. The alpha female is the devil who wears Prada. In charge, aloof, and ahead just like Anna Wintour, the editor of US Vogue.

The alpha female looks comfortable in the boardroom, and comes power-dressed. She may wear a tie but with such élan as matching it with fire red lipstick. She is also, most likely, not married nor about to have children. Neither does she obsess about relationships. Her focus on ambition is second to none.

Now, if you’re a homemaker and nurturer of family, you can hardly be considered an alpha female. This is because the alpha female syndrome is based on a male model – or, more appropriately, the masculine model (this is the uncanny quality of being a provider instead of nurturer).

The tie-with-killer-lipstick package is really a rebellion against male domination – giving credence to the movement of female domination. The alpha syndrome in both genders depends entirely on the concept of innate superiority.

Which is really what a huge part of the feminist movement has turned out to be. Feminism is inescapably beholden to the concept of male domination because it is the revolt against the supremacy of the male.

In the same light, alpha females behave aggressively towards their climb to the top. In the process, and because the world is essentially patriarchal, the alpha females are really mavericks or gender hybrids.

Alpha Female: The Bitch

In spite of much ado about the uber-feminist, not many women really like to be an alpha female. In the first place, not many women like alpha females. Women want to be liked.

Which brings on the most important connotation of the alpha female. This one is the bitch – all at once frightening and domineering.

The alpha female is yet another by-product that trickled out of the feminine stereotype. She is both an icon and a caricature. She is seen as inhuman rather than superhuman. While she may be envied for her talent and capability (not to mention, overflowing sexuality), she suffers from reduced empathy from others because empathy naturally subtracts from her intractable superiority. Total achievement is the focus of the alpha female.

She also despises alpha males who are, in turn, terrified of her. Male-bashing is the alpha female’s favorite pastime.

The bitch is the bitter female. Can you think of a male counterpart of the bitch in the English language?

If you can’t, then there’s probably none.

You know why?

Because there is no bitter male.

And what’s more absurd is the fact that instead of employing the best female qualities, alpha females ape the masculine. And because they pattern themselves from the male model, alpha females are really men in drag.

”there is no bitter male”

”male” to me is in itself an adjective and one can’t really isolate the ”bitter” from the ”male”.

Interestingly, this type of female behavior is becoming more common. The problem is that often it is a trick used by women to hide their insecurities. The same happens with the lemons, oops, men.

Thanks for the kind words, Madhuri! I’m so blessed that you read my posts.

You brought up an insight there about the ’nurturer’ being overshadowed by die-hard feminists.

That’s exactly the point I want to make. This feminist movement isn’t really doing good to the female cause. What they do mostly is men-bashing ans asserting their feminist rights.

Actually, they are killing the female cause because they are in effect emulating a gender that they are rebelling against.

In the process, they want to be male-dominant, when actually the female-nurturer is an inescapable reality and inescapable necessity.

I’m not sure if my logic is correct there, but I was never part of any feminist movement.
3 Stars
Grace,
I agree with your observations.
Best part is being ’nurturer’ can itself be a strong platform to assert gender equality. Infact in matriarchal society they used the same platform...
I don’t know why feminists left the ’nurturer’ part in their movement and instead focussed on male-bashing?
3 Stars
Grace Calderon
Quezon City, Philippines
Feminism fails to see that the crux of gender equality is really acknowledging the role, function, and nature of the female.

In its fight against gender bias, it actually wants to join ’enemy camp.’
3 Stars
So,its sheer pursuit of similar power which men have enjoyed. So they begin with aping men...
It seems such a flawed logic. No wonder they have got caught up in mixed identities.
:)lol
3 Stars
Grace Calderon
Quezon City, Philippines
Yes, the alpha syndrome is found both in males and females. So, it’s been a race to superiority.

Then, gender bias came along, and the male became the enviable model.

I wonder if Darwin saw gender bias as an impending tide?...

Wonder if animal world shows such power struggle between male and female?:)

This occurs with the hienas: the females have the highest hierarchy. Those ”bitches” are very dangerous!!!
3 Stars

4 Stars
Grace Calderon

I think the sex roles are more clearly defined, less confusing, and less complicated in the animal world. The female gives birth and suckles the young, while the male procreates, hunts for food, and protects the brood. :)

The amazing similarity between sexes in the animal kingdom, as well as the similarity of this with humans is the concept of protecting the brood.

Amazing, isn’t it?

:)

”In the process, they want to be male-dominant, when actually the female-nurturer is an inescapable reality and inescapable necessity.”

Oh Gracie!! You really have to be see those high school queen bees in operation to really understand the Alpha Female outside of the boardroom... These girls are so charming and caring and nurturing when it comes to their macho boyfriends... but if anyone dares cross their whim... all hell really does break loose!!!

Even the nurturing soccer moms get so damn competitive and conniving and bitchy that they make even the gutsiest corporate ladies look like coy, fragile princesses who haven’t ever even stepped out of of their magic castles!!!

I think the notion of the alpha male is a big sham... And I honestly think females run the show all the way... Studies have shown that women only get interested in a man if other women are interested in him too... By that logic, men aren’t at all attractive, we just make them out to be so!!!

Besides, didn’t they say that behind every successful man, there’s always a woman!! Lolzzz

@ Grace.

I second your stand and am no female bastion rider either.

Even at college, the feminist literature and all, does not hold any good for me. And why should it in the first place?.

What the hell is this ”feminist” junk all about. Its another name of ”racism” in the sense of acknowledging yourself as a marginalised, side lined being, which we are not.

We are just an opposite gender, and not any marginalised tribe for the sake of almighty.

We dont need any flagmarch to assert our rights, that is our desrving in a society.

These feminists, if any at all are merely psychopathic, hyperactive and hyper adrenaline driven maniacs, who deride the so - called ”male dominated” society only to satiate some domestic inadequacies.

We can weep our selves out if we acknowledge our downtrodden miserable existence. If we believe ourselves to be failures then no one in the world will stop us from being one!

These ”feminists” are merely overcharged damsels who like being in an eternal distress, and they acknowledge some sort of superiority ( in all likelihood ’male’) and this they contest with their lives. They are not fighting for rights, they are merely

””fighting for their right to fight””

That’s what I love most about you, Asmita (besides giving us cool gadgets to ogle and covet each time). You’re a keen observer of homo sapiens.

Sometimes, my jaw drops from sheer eureka each time you come up with an original observation of things that, otherwise, we just pass up as trite.

I’m having another eureka moment now when you said that the alpha male is a sham. What a misfortune if the sham is what alpha females want to emulate. Makes this world a true bulwark of hypocrisy and foolery, then.

I really don’t know when exactly the male model became the ubiquitous pattern to mold into.

If the alpha female’s a bitch then the gamma man’s a wimp!
Maybe the alpha female should marry the less driven, more laid-back, gamma guy ;) The taut, controlled, go-getting female finds a charming, flexible chap who seems to be everything she is not: relaxed, nurturing and fun. So far, so promising! He can help her uncoil and bring romance and much-needed tenderness into her brittle life, while she can provide a lifestyle which is thrilling for its full-throttle dynamism.

But if opposites initially attract, over time they cause friction because what was first appealing becomes irritating to women and we end up thinking: ’I want a real man around, not a laid-back wuss.’ At the end of the day something can only work if the alpha female finds her softer side and the gamma man to find his strong side.
