Hmm it’s about time things start changing. THese kind of marriages are absolutely disgusting. What can a 30 year old guy see in a 9 or 10 year old. Those sick bastards. I’m 20 years old and I don’t even look at girls who are 2 years younger than me. My current girlfriend is only 1 year younger than me.

I’m certain in many of these cases, a lot of girls get raped and abused but never say anything. Kudos to these girls for standing up to abuse.

Right, Bradley, it took those girls tons of courage to against heavy tradition. And with divorce granted, their society is slowly opening its eyes.

Nujood is an adorable girl.. I hope she grows up to be a great journalist as she wants... Unfortunately this is one story about one single brave girl.. Thousands of children are married to old men.. And they don’t realize what is happening to them.

Jaiyant, maybe with their stubborn courage and relentless will, they will make a huge wave out of the ripple they created.

This seems to be a global thing. I notice that the men here in the U.S. are attracted to women 15 - 25 yrs younger. Then there are the predators in between the ages of 30 and 50 that engage in statutory rape regularly.

I am 43 yrs old and the closest I can get to my age is 15 yrs older than me or 10 - 15 yr younger. I can go older but the young ones are like children to me.

It’s largely a gender thing, Bobette. Young girls are coveted for their nubile physique and this so-called ”innocence” and ”inexperience.”

”Lack of sexual experience” in girls seems to be a gender premium for men. The way I calculate that is because men want to be the first to ’taste’ a sexually-inexperienced girl.

’Taste’ there, of course, is a euphemism.

It’s still all about conquer, for men. Still about power.

Gender inequality is an issue of power.

This is a most heinous crime to me raping young girls. I read this and the little girl said she will never marry again; poor baby now she is going to hate men at least for awhile but i would understand if she never changes her mind.

Doesn’t it just rip your heart and churn your guts, Bobette, to learn about such cruelties done to women? And these are girls! It’s nightmarish!
